How to care for your Pothos
How to care for your Pothos
Our tips for helping it grow healthy and strong
Pothos, also known as Epipremnum aureum, is an evergreen climbing plant native to Mo’orea in the Society Islands of French Polynesia. At our nursery, Pothos is valued for its ability to adapt to different environments and its lush beauty, making it an ideal choice for anyone who wants to add a touch of greenery to their home.
The right location
Pothos prefers bright, indirect light. It is important to avoid direct exposure to midday sunlight, which could damage the leaves. Place it in a bright location protected from direct sunlight.
When and how to water it
In summer, we recommend watering Pothos every 7 days, while in winter, every 14 days. It is essential to check that the first 3 cm of soil are dry before watering, to prevent waterlogging.
Temperature and humidity
Pothos thrives in an environment with temperatures between 18 and 29 degrees Celsius. It is important not to let the temperature drop below 10 degrees. Ideal humidity is between 40% and 70%.
The right fertilizer
During spring and summer, we recommend fertilizing Pothos every 60 days with a balanced liquid fertilizer. This will help the plant maintain vigorous, healthy growth.
The pot and soil
As for the pot and soil, it is important to choose a well-draining substrate. Although we do not have specific recommendations for the type of soil, a general-purpose mix for houseplants will be sufficient. Remember to repot the plant when the roots begin to emerge from the drainage holes.
How to propagate it
Pothos can be propagated by cuttings. Although the difficulty is medium, with a little patience and care, you can grow new plants from a single cutting.
Our final advice
Pothos is a plant that can adapt and grow lush with little attention. Remember not to overwater it and to place it in a bright location. With this simple care, your Pothos will reward you with vibrant, lush greenery.
